Red Sea's Prizm slim line hang-on protein skimmer has been developed specifically for the small to medium size home aquarium (up to 100 gallons), protruding only 2.4" out from the aquarium and powered by an external pump. It extracts dissolved organic waste products (proteins) from the aquarium by mechanically removing them through foam fractionation. Efficient Skimmers such as the Prizm, remove proteins before they break down and pollute the water. Skimming enhances the quality of the aquarium's environment as well as its appearance. The Prizm combines an efficient "18-Blade" Turbojet Air Injector together with Red Sea's convergent-divergent flow technology reaction chamber, resulting in exceptional skimming performance. The unique Prizm reaction chamber consists of a convergent upward flow 1st stage, followed by a divergent downward flow 2nd stage. The decreasing cross-sectional area of the 1st stage causes great turbulence and extended contact time between the air bubbles and water. The increasing cross-sectional area of the 2nd stage causes the air bubbles to flow both co and counter-current. The combined action of the two stages creates a protein-loaded, stable foam at the throat of the skimmer. Quick Features:
